Single-core 1mm to 2mm | Side-emitting insulated fiber cable

Single-core, side-emitting fibre cables are single-core insulated in a clear UV-protected sheath. The fibre core is made of PMMA (Poly Methyl Meth Acrylate) and transmits cold light from the illuminator with no electricity or heat in the fibre cable.

Side-emitting fibres emit light from their sides and ends, they are primarily used in chandeliers and low-ambient strip lighting to outline or define a shape or object. Other applications of side-emitting lighting are in architectural models, Christmas decorations, and artworks, such as sculptures benefiting from the flexibility and no electricity in the cable.

Depending on the application, the fibre cable ends can be cut clean or have lenses and decorative fittings. End fittings allow designers to produce different light beam angles and light diffusion effects through the fitting’s lens without the need for a powered LED fitting.
